What Makes a Concealer Yuka Approved?

To be considered a Yuka approved concealer, these concealers currently need to have an excellent (75-100 rating) on the clean beauty app, Yuka.

This means that all the ingredients were evaluated and rated by the Yuka app saving you time and research on finding your next clean concealer.

Disclaimer: Cowgirly Mood is not associated with Yuka or the Yuka App. We have found the Yuka app to be a great way to incorporate cleaner ingredients into your skincare routine. However, it is not always 100% accurate, so if you are ever hesitant about using a Yuka approved product, we highly recommend reaching out to a professional for guidance and doing your own research. The information provided is not intended as professional or medical advice and cannot be guaranteed to be up-to-date or free of errors. New Yuka app updates and product reformulations can also affect rating changes.

The Yuka App ratings on our website were last checked on the date with the asterisk* below the product box. We cannot guarantee that the product has not been reformulated or that the Yuka App has made any updates to its rating scale past that date.

If any product ratings change during our review process, we will try our best to mark the product on our website with what has changed with the product’s ingredients. After 1 month, if the product is still no longer Yuka approved, it will be removed from our website. It is always recommended for you to do your own research as well.

Why Do People Use Concealers in Their Makeup Routines?

People use concealer in their makeup routine for a variety of different reasons.

They could have dark circles under their eyes and want to brighten it up, want to cover imperfections, or they could just like to use concealer and like how it looks.

Concealer usage always depends on personal preference. Some people love it and could never do their makeup without it. Some people only bring out a concealer if they have a visible pimple they want to hide.

No matter what the reason is, you must be using a high-quality and performing concealer.

If your concealer does not work well it could affect your entire makeup look.

Are Concealer and Foundation the Same Thing?

You may be wondering, what makes concealer and foundation different?

When you look at these two makeup products, it may seem like concealer and foundation are the same thing, but there are some differences.

Foundations are formulated to be a base for your makeup used to provide sheer-to-full coverage and even out the entire face’s skin tone.

Concealers on the other hand are formulated to provide additional coverage to specific areas like blemishes, dark under-eye circles and fine lines, etc.

Concealers that are formulated specifically for the under-eye area are even more different from regular foundations as it has specific ingredients for the delicate skin under your eyes.

At the end of the day you can use concealer without foundation, and you can also use foundation without concealer. It all comes down to personal preference during your makeup routine.

Can I Do My Makeup Without Concealer?

Personally, I do believe you can still do your makeup without concealer, especially if you are not trying to do a full face of makeup.

Using concealer in place of foundation can provide a fast and easy makeup application that still provides coverage for your skin’s specific needs.

How to Prep Your Under-Eye Area Before Concealer Application

If you apply concealer to your under-eye areas, you may experience some issues with the concealer clinging to dry patches and emphasizing and creasing within fine lines and wrinkles.

If this is happening to you during your under-eye concealer application, you may need a different skincare prep before you start your makeup routine.

Always make sure to provide your under-eye area with hydration whether that is your face moisturizer or a targetted eye cream. It is very important to ensure the under-eye area is moisturized and prepped for the best results from your concealer.

You can also use a primer made specifically for under-eyes to help for an overall smoother makeup application.

Level Up Your Makeup Routine with Clean Concealers

I hope this list of clean concealers helps you navigate the world of clean beauty a little easier!
