Nowadays it can be hard to find dry shampoos without potentially harmful ingredients like benzene and isobutane, especially when it comes to traditional dry shampoo brands.
I used to use a popular dry shampoo brand every week if not every other day and when I started researching my ingredients more, it was unfortunately the first product that went into the trash.
It took me a long time before I started my search for a new dry shampoo, but thankfully the Yuka app has helped me find a variety of clean dry shampoos with cleaner ingredients.
And at the end of the day, we all deserve to be able to use hair products that we feel comfortable using.
That is why I have compiled a list of Yuka Approved Dry Shampoos!

What is Dry Shampoo and Why Is It Used?
Dry shampoos are powdered hair products that allow you to refresh and volumize your hair with similar effects to a “shampoo” without needing to use water.
Dry shampoos are used to extend the life of your hair wash days. It should be applied directly to the hair roots to help absorb any excess oil and grease.
However, it is important to note that dry shampoos should not be used to fully replace regular shampoo use, but only to provide some help with excess oils, grease, etc. in between normal hair wash days.
Yuka Approved Dry Shampoos
Each of these clean dry shampoos are without benzene, propane, butane, and synthetic fragrances and their ingredients have been evaluated and given an excellent rating by the clean beauty app, Yuka.
They are also all non-aerosol and powder-based formulas.
Disclaimer: Cowgirly Mood is not associated with Yuka or the Yuka App. We have found the Yuka app to be a great way to incorporate cleaner ingredients into your skincare routine. The information provided is not intended as professional or medical advice and cannot be guaranteed to be up-to-date or free of errors. New Yuka app updates and product reformulations can also affect rating changes.
The Yuka App ratings on our website were last checked on the date with the asterisk* below the product box. We cannot guarantee that the product has not been reformulated or that the Yuka App has made any updates to its rating scale past that date.
If any product ratings change during our review process, we will try our best to mark the product on our website with what has changed with the product’s ingredients. After 1 month, if the product is still no longer Yuka approved, it will be removed from our website. It is always recommended for you to do your own research as well.
*These products are in no particular order. New products will be added periodically if found during our research.
