If you are on the low FODMAP diet, and wondering if you can eat at Chipotle Mexican Grill, I am happy to say that yes, you can still enjoy Chipotle on the low FODMAP diet!
When it comes to fast food options on the low FODMAP diet, it can feel like you cannot eat anything. But sometimes all you want is a fast and easy meal that you do not need to prepare yourself.
Luckily, I am here to show you that you can still enjoy a delicious meal from Chipotle while avoiding high FODMAP ingredients.
So, let’s dive into some of the best low FODMAP Chipotle options!
What is the Low FODMAP Diet?
If you are just starting on this diet, you may be wondering, what exactly is the low FODMAP diet.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, the low FODMAP diet is an elimination diet often prescribed to individuals with gastrointestinal disorders, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), to help identify food triggers in their diet.
This diet temporarily limits high FODMAP (Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides, and Polyolscarbohydrates) ingredients and foods to help reduce digestive discomfort symptoms and provide relief to your overall digestive system.

Low FODMAP Foods at Chipotle Mexican Grill
While Chipotle does not have a huge list of low FODMAP food items, what they do have to offer is enough to make a delicious meal.
You can also count on Chipotle to always have fresh ingredients, and no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
So, let’s break down all the low FODMAP foods on Chipotle’s menu and exactly which ingredients they use.
This ingredient information is directly from Chipotle’s ingredients list:
Carnitas (Pulled Pork)
Ingredients: Bay Leaf, Black Pepper, Juniper Berries, Pork, Salt, Sunflower Oil, and Thyme
There is no garlic or red onion in this protein.
The only low FODMAP protein option on Chipotle’s menu is their carnitas, but you will not even miss the other proteins that’s just how good the carnitas are.
Thankfully, carnitas was my already go-to protein choice at Chipotle, so I was excited to be able to keep it on my meal rotation.
If you do not like pork, unfortunately, Chipotle would not be a good place for you to eat on this diet.
Crispy Corn Tortillas
Ingredients: Corn Masa Flour, Lime Juice, Salt, Sunflower Oil, and Water
Cilantro Lime White Rice
Ingredients: Bay Leaf, Cilantro, Lemon Juice, Lime Juice, Rice Bran Oil, Salt, Water, and White Rice
Cilantro Lime Brown Rice
Ingredients: Bay Leaf, Brown Rice, Cilantro, Lemon Juice, Lime Juice, Rice Bran Oil, Salt, and Water
Monterey Jack Cheese
Ingredients: Cheese Cultures, Milk, Vegetable Rennet, and Salt
I always order this in a light amount, but if you are trying to stay dairy-free as well, opt out of this ingredient.
Tortilla Chips
Ingredients: Corn Masa Flour, Lime Juice, Salt, Sunflower Oil, and Water
Lettuce
Last, but certainly not least, their lettuce is low FODMAP, which thankfully is only comprised of one ingredient: lettuce. It is the perfect topping to the perfect Chipotle meal.
Eating Gluten-Free at Chipotle
Luckily, according to Chipotle’s allergen list, the only food items that contain gluten are their burrito and taco flour tortillas. That means the corn tortillas and the tortilla chips are okay to eat on the low FODMAP diet.
So, if you are only looking for gluten-free fast food options, Chipotle is a great option to check out if you like their burrito bowl, salad bowl, or corn tortilla tacos!
My Go-To Low FODMAP Chipotle Order
When I first started this diet, you would have found me ordering this meal at Chipotle multiple times a week.
I was even paying the extra outrageous DoorDash fees and menu upcharges just to get this meal delivered to me. That’s how good it is.
Here is my go-to low FODMAP Chipotle order:
2 crispy corn tortilla tacos with carnitas, cilantro lime white rice, lettuce, light on the cheese, and tortilla chips on the side.
Now, you may think that sounds a little plain for a meal, but I can guarantee you that you will be VERY satisfied with it. The juices from the carnitas help satisfy the need for sauces and keep the tacos from being dry while the fresh cilantro and lime in the rice make it all come together.
My favorite part about ordering the corn tortilla chips on the side is using it as my fork to pick up all the food that fell off my tacos. Also, the fresh lime taste adds some depth to the meal while accentuating the lime in the white rice.
Also, another bonus to this meal is since you do not order any beans, salsa, or other condiments, the tacos do not get soggy as they normally would! Even when I got them Doordashed they were still perfectly crunchy when I went to eat them!
Other Low FODMAP Options at Chipotle
Here are some of the other low FODMAP options at Chipotle in case you do not like tacos or want to switch it up:
- Burrito bowl with carnitas, cilantro lime white rice or cilantro lime brown rice, lettuce, cheese, and tortilla chips on the side.
- Salad bowl with carnitas, cilantro lime white rice or cilantro lime brown rice, cheese, and tortilla chips on the side.
So, as you can see, you can still enjoy a delicious meal at Chipotle while following the low FODMAP diet guidelines.
Satisfy Your Chipotle Cravings
Don’t let the low FODMAP diet keep you down. If you are craving Mexican foods, or just savory foods in general, check out Chipotle for one of their best low FODMAP meals! You will not regret it!
